MU02 – Project AAYUTHAM

The Irula community is the most under privileged who are solely dependent only on their daily wages doing irregular odd jobs viz agricultural daily labours , wood cutting , rice mills loading / unloading, coolie jobs and ladies seasonal flower plucking jobs / agricultural labour activities. To do these activities, they hire the tools on a daily basis on rent and have to pay that amount from the meager salary they receive.

As part of Irula Welfare and Rehabilitation Work, INSPIRE distributed tools to 45 families of Vittalapuram and Kudiperumbakkam Irula villages. Tools distributed were big size Aruvaal, Kadapaarai, Saw and Kodali, which were worth Rs.23,000/-. The villagers were very happy on receipt of the tools. They said they couldn’t save money to buy the tools and having tools of their own will definitely uplift their livelihood, as now they need not pay rent for tools, while going for work.
